Purolite, an Ecolab company known for its synthetic and agarose-based bioprocessing resins, together with Repligen Corporation (NASDAQ: RGEN), a leader in bioprocessing technology, have introduced Praesto® CH1. This innovative 70μm agarose-based affinity resin is designed to purify specialized mAbs, including bispecifics and recombinant antibody fragments. Developed through a multi-year strategic partnership, this resin combines Purolite’s patented Jetted beads manufacturing process with Repligen’s advanced ligand technology to tackle previously unmet challenges in mAb purification.
Building on the success of Purolite’s existing protein A resin portfolio, the new CH1 resin offers high selectivity for antibodies and fragments containing the human CH1 domain. It enables the capture of bispecific antibodies and antibody fragments, and the removal of mis-paired species, providing an effective alternative when protein A resins are unsuitable. Praesto CH1 enhances productivity and reduces costs in bioprocessing.
Jennifer Sorrells, Purolite’s Vice President of Research and Development, stated, “The launch of Praesto CH1 adds to Purolite’s growing innovation toolbox for biologics purification. Our strategic partnership with Repligen integrates leading technologies to develop new purification strategies for diverse biotherapeutic molecules and their unique challenges.”
Ralf Kuriyel, Repligen’s Senior Vice President of Research and Development, added, “We are excited to bring Praesto CH1 to market through our collaboration with Purolite. This cross-linked agarose-based resin, engineered for high dynamic binding capacity to the CH1 region of antigen-binding fragments from human immunoglobins (IgGs) and mAbs, is well-positioned for success.”
This launch highlights Purolite’s commitment to innovation and product expansion, following their recent investment in a new bioprocessing production facility in Landenberg, PA. This will be Purolite’s fourth location in Pennsylvania, reinforcing their dedication to meeting global customer needs with dual-continent agarose manufacturing.
