Wilo Leads as a Sustainability Pioneer Once Again

Dortmund. The Wilo Group is centering all its business activities around sustainability, as highlighted in the latest sustainability report from the multinational technology group. Recently, Wilo established a new, comprehensive sustainability strategy, which now takes precedence over all other corporate strategies. The report details Wilo’s progress towards its ambitious 2030 targets.
“We believe that overcoming the major crises of our time requires society to courageously embrace sustainability. Our strategic reorientation represents a significant change in perspective. With this decision, Wilo is once again leading as a sustainability pioneer,” states Oliver Hermes, President & CEO of the Wilo Group.
Wilo’s new sustainability strategy focuses on three key impact areas: Creating, Caring, and Connecting. ‘Creating’ encompasses the sustainable contributions of Wilo’s products, systems, and solutions, such as decarbonization and improving water supply. ‘Caring’ involves responsible actions towards the environment, employees, and society, including goals like emission reduction and fostering a healthy working environment. ‘Connecting’ signifies Wilo’s dedication to strong international partnerships.
“Wilo achieved significant milestones in all three impact areas last year,” says Georg Weber, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Wilo Group. In 2023, the installation of highly efficient Wilo pumps and pump systems saved a total of 2 terawatt hours of energy. Wilo increased its sales in sustainable water solutions by 10 percent, thus contributing to a better supply of clean water.
The Group has reduced its scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 17 percent compared to the base year 2020. Wilo’s LTIR rate, a recognized indicator for occupational health and safety, stands at 2.9, meeting benchmark levels. Additionally, the Wilo Industry Conference 2023, held in Singapore, brought together around 200 experts from politics, business, and science, creating an important platform for exchange in one of the world’s smartest cities.
Wilo’s dedication to sustainability was further recognized last year with a platinum medal from EcoVadis. Only one percent of the more than 100,000 companies assessed by EcoVadis annually receive this highest rating.
“Creating, Caring, Connecting – this approach defines the work of the Wilo Group today and for the future,” summarizes Wilo CEO Oliver Hermes. “Our sustainability strategy is the driving force behind our multinational technology group Wilo.”
